Our school is tiny, with less than 50 pupils, so every plant you buy really helps us fund library books and other equipment.

Edible Plants
- Chilli Pepper and Sweet Pepper, £1
- Either sheltered spot outside or in a pot inside: the bigger the pot the more chillis or peppers you will get. Water with tomato feed every so often for lots of chillis.
- Tomatoes, 50p
- Inside in large pot or outside. Taste much, much better than shop-bought.
- Courgette, 50p
- Water well when fruits form. Pick regularly for lots of courgettes.
- Dwarf French Bean "Speedy", 50p
- No supports needed. Very quick to produce beans.
- Lemon Balm, £1
- Lemon scented leaves which can be used in pot pourri, salads, long drinks or for herb tea. Likes any soil and conditions.
- Mint, £1.25
- Likes moist conditions.
- Basil, £1.25
- Either keep indoors in pot or plant outside in sunny spot. Pinch off any flowers to keep leaf production. Keep picking the top bit of the stem to get loads of bushy growth.
- Rosemary, 85p
- Evergreen. Put in a pot or plant out. Sorry, sold out.
- Golden Oregano, £1.25
- Hardy perennial.
House and Bedding Plants
- Streptocarpus, £2.50
- House plant which likes a bright position but not full sun. Water when compost feels dry. Flowers continually from May until winter. Flowers are good for cutting. Easy to grow. Lovely plant (Award of Garden Merit).
- Geranium (Pelargonium), £1
- Pink, red or white. House plant or bedding: will last for years if taken inside before 1st frost. Drought-tolerant and needs little watering.
- Geranium (Pelargonium) Lord Bute, £1.50
- Regal pelargonium, scented leaves. Lovely dark purple flowers edged with white. Half-hardy perennial. Can reach 15" high. Retails for £6 (crocus.co.uk
), but only £1.50 from us.
- Spider plant, 50p
- House or bedding. Easy to grow, needs little watering.
- Aloe Vera, £1.20
- House or bedding plant. Easy to look after. Water infrequently but give a good soaking when you do. Juice from leaves said to be good for sunburn, rashes and so on. It has been given an Award of Garden Merit (AGM) for plants of outstanding excellence.
- Mother-in-Law's Tongue, £1.50
- House or bedding plant. Stiff, upright leaves with a yellow border. Among the toughest of all houseplants—they can withstand virtually any conditions, from dark to bright. The only way to surely kill them is to overwater. During winter, reduce watering to monthly, or whenever the soil is dry to the touch.
Hanging Basket Plants

Perennials
Pink Flowers
- Ground Cover Rose, £2.20
- Grows about a foot high. In pots gives a trailing effect. Abundant small, semi-double, pink flowers with good scent. Spreads outwards. Sorry, sold out.
- Cranesbill Geranium, £1.50
- Pink flowers, 30 cm tall. Flowers all summer.
- Bistort, £1.50
- Sun or shade. Any moist soil. Flowers May-August. Dense spikes of soft pink flowers rise above the leaves. (Also available from crocus.co.uk)
- Sedum spectabile (Ice Plant), £1.50 - £2
- Autumn flowering perennial with pink flowers. Very attractive to butterflies.

- Good for pots or border. 3ft high, pink flowers August. Sorry, sold out.

- Herbaceous perennial. Flowers summer to mid-autumn. Likes sun or part shade.

- Red Valerian, 85p
- Flowers profusely from July to October. Likes well-drained soil. Grows 1 m tall.
- Marsh Woundwort, 50p
- Likes damp soil. Purpley-pink flowers June to October.
- Russian Comfrey: Bocking 14, 85p
- Does not set seed. Likes sun. Add the leaves to compost heaps, use as mulch around other plants or make an excellent liquid feed for plants (just soak leaves in water for a couple of weeks). Once established harvest foliage four to five times a season. Cut to about 2 in when the leaves are 2 ft high. Also known as knitbone as good for broken bones.

- Yellow, daisy-like flowers August-September. Likes sun or part shade. Around 1 m tall.
- Evening Primrose, 50 p
- Likes sun to part shade in ordinary soil. Called evening primrose as pleasant scent noticeable in the evening. Flower June-September. Plants around 1 m high need no support. Biennial. Oil obtained from the plant is used for pain relief. Roots can be grated into salads.

- Yellow flower spike. Likes sun or partial shade. 100 cm tall. Flowers June to September.

- Frothy greeny-yellow flowers with fan shaped leaves which hold droplets of water after rain: very pretty. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its Award of Garden Merit. Likes sun or shade. White Flowers
- Astrantia (Masterwort), £2

- British wild flower. Likes poor soil. Has a history as a healing herb for cuts and wounds.

Shrubs
- Winter Flowering Jasmine, £2
- Will grow in most soils in sun or part shade. Yellow flowers in mid-winter. Can be either a sprawly shrub or will scramble up a wall.

- Yellow spring-flowering shrub. Will grow almost anywhere, including shade. Given an "Award of Garden Merit".

- Yellow flowers. 3 feet high. Red berries eaten by birds. Seeds freely.
